Started by Runners,
For Runners

We're two ninth graders who went through middle school running and felt the gap firsthand — the jump from a casual middle school team to a structured, competitive high school program can be a lot. We wanted to do something about it.

Marin Miles is our answer. Every weekend, we bring together 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for guided runs, drills, pacing practice, and real talk about what high school running looks like. No pressure. No cost. Just running.

Whether you're just starting out, aiming to make your school's team, or training to compete at a higher level — you belong here.

We didn't have anyone to bridge that gap for us. So we decided to be that for someone else.

What We Work On

🎯
Pacing & Form

Learn how to run smarter, not just harder. We work on stride efficiency, breathing, and learning your own pace — skills that pay off in races and in life.

🏁
Race Prep

Cross country, track, mile runs — we help you understand race strategy, warm-up routines, and how to push through the hard parts of a race.

📈
Building Your Base

Whether you're just starting out or already on your school's team, we help you build consistent mileage and a training foundation that lasts.

🎓
High School Prep

We walk 8th graders through what to expect in high school running — tryouts, training volume, mental prep, and how to stand out on day one.

Safe, Supervised,
and Free

We know that handing your child off to an activity — especially one run by teenagers — comes with questions. That's totally fair, and we want to earn your trust.

Marin Miles is designed with parental peace of mind in mind. You're always welcome to attend, and we keep a structured, safe environment where every participant is seen.

Is it really free?
Yes, completely. No dues, no fees, no gear requirements. We believe access to quality athletic development shouldn't cost anything.
Does my child need to sign up?
Yes — registration and a parent-signed waiver are required before your child's first run. This protects everyone and ensures we have emergency contact info on hand. Sign up above.
Who's running this?
Two 9th graders — Kasper Karbe and Jackson Chen — who are active runners and wanted to give back to the middle school running community. Parents are always welcome to be present.
Where do runs take place?
Mill Valley, CA. The starting location rotates each Sunday to explore different Marin trails. After signing up, you'll receive each week's meeting location by email.
What if my child is a total beginner?
Perfect. We group by ability level and beginners get extra support. The goal is progress, not performance — everyone runs at a pace that works for them.
How do I contact the organizers?
Email Kasper at [email protected] or Jackson at [email protected]. We respond quickly and are happy to answer any questions.

Why This Matters

  • 🏃 Regular physical activity supports academic focus, sleep, and emotional wellbeing in middle schoolers.
  • 🤝 Running in a group builds accountability, friendship, and team mindset — invaluable skills at this age.
  • 📚 Hearing from someone just a few years ahead can be more impactful than adult mentorship for this age group.
  • 🎯 Kids with a plan and a goal are more motivated and less likely to drop sports in middle school — the age when most quit.
  • 🆓 It's free. Quality enrichment activities don't always need to cost money, and we're proving that every weekend.
